We are using photography to earn a living but more importantly, to better the situation of humanity. While we enjoy the beauty and joy of weddings, as professionals, we are so deeply knitted in the fiber of our beings to engage in photo-journalism that tells stories that bring social awareness to various causes whether it is hunger, diseases, micro-finance, clean water, conflict. Our humanitarian/documentary photography focuses on Africa, even though given an opportunity we would love to go further and document issues in Asia, the Middle East and South America. If you want to find out how you can get involved in development work in East Africa, do not hesitate to send me a personal note with questions.

I multitasked on this wedding, shooting both still and video. The result is not bad. I am quickly and assuredly getting the thrill to thrust fully into wedding cinematography in Lancaster, PA and beyond. We have been buying tools that we need to effectively do this, and we are almost good to go. In fact, by the time you read this, we should be able to offer wedding cinematography, so do not hesitate to ask us questions by visiting this link.

Brittany and Adam Martin Wedding, Lock Haven, PA from andy kristian on Vimeo.

This is a wedding video of highlights from Brittany and Adam’s wedding that we photographed this past week-end in Lock Haven, PA, in the State College area. I am beginning to enjoy shooting wedding videos very much and once we save up, we will buy a slider, a stabilizer, Final Cut Pro X, and possibly jump onto the Canon band wagon. The video was shot on Nikon D3s and is handheld.

Hi! We are excited to announce a limited offer for a free engagement photos session for brides and grooms in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and beyond. The free engagement session (and possibly a free engagement video!) is for those who will book with us their wedding photography between today (August 01, 2011) through the end of the month (August 31, 2011). Once you have booked, the session does not expire until the end of 2012 – what I am saying is, all you need to do this month is just reserve your date, and then you can have your engagement session whenever you want – tomorrow, next month, next year….

The free engagement session is for up to two locations that are within 15 miles of Lancaster city, Pennsylvania. If your session is much further than that, some fees such as gas may apply. Contact us to clarify. We would love this to be absolutely free. We would encourage you to offer some of your savings from the free shoot to charity (but that is entirely up to you). We can recommend some non profits if you would like.

If you live truly far away from Lancaster, but are interested in this offer and our photography, please contact us and let us work something out together.  We love to travel and photograph weddings!

Share this post with all prospective brides and grooms. We are now taking wedding photography bookings for 2012.

I usually feel weird seeing myself on video. In fact, I feel more weird hearing myself talk!!!! Thankfully, in this video, my voice is muted, but then you will totally understand what we are showing you – the stress balls that I throw around the house and make Sonya bad, and the albums that we design and are endearing to brides. Enjoy the video!

We love to design albums for our clients. We prefer doing this other than outsourcing this service. But as well all know, the practicality of doing that for all our clients isn’t possible. Suffice it to say that so often we get orders for custom designed and laid out page by page by ourselves. This service is available even for those who have already had their weddings but want something very special for their treasured memories. If you are one of those, then you need to have the photo files in soft copy (plus the necessary copy right releases where necessary). For any questions or more information, we would love to hear from you. Please do contact us.

This is a montage of some of our wedding album designs. We do very few custom designs, so when we do them, they are simply fantastic!

Our aspiring wedding cinematographer Kayla Scott filmed on Genevieve and David’s wedding. Here is a trailer of the video. Find out about our wedding cinematography in Lancaster, Pennsylvania here.

Genevieve & David McKay Wedding Trailer from andy kristian on Vimeo.

This is a wedding video of Genevieve & David. Their wedding was also featured in Dream Weddings, a reality television show in Central Pennsylvania. Genevieve and David also won a competition from NBC Television (Today Show). We were honored to do their wedding photography. The cinematography was our first try and we were not hired to do it, even though we now officially offer wedding cinematography/videography in Lancaster and the whole of Central Pennsylvania. We filmed using a Sony professional camcorder. In hindsight, we should have taken advantage of our D3s and lenses especially for the inside shots. Our cinematographer, Kayla Scott did an incredible job. Visit us on our website at

Lancaster city in Pennsylvania is one of the oldest cities in America. It was founded around 1709 by German immigrants. As an old city, it is okay to expect historic architecture whether victorian, regency, edwardian or georgian. I took some time to capture some of the landmark buildings in the city for my fine art collection. These were taken about three years ago. Need I mention that Lancaster is one of the most gorgeous places to visit in America. The vast and picturesque Amish farmlands and baggies are a treat to the eyes. Summer is the best time to visit. If you are interested in buying any of the photos as premium signature prints or need a lisence for publishing rights of any of the photographs, please contact us on our contact page found here. All proceeds from the sale of prints will be used in supporting economic activities for farming households in East Africa. If you want to find out more about these programs, please contact us.

I enjoy photographing in Africa, specifically in East Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan) – that’s where I am from. But more than anything, I have a very soft spot for photographing children. The reasons I photograph people in Africa are many. The most important reason however is to raise social awareness, and where possible, raise money. When I photographed in Karamoja in 2008, a very hot spot in terms of local tribal conflicts, a group in Texas used my photo essay to fundraise for money and items worth $250,000 for education purposes in Karamoja, Uganda. God has given me a gift, and I want to be a good steward of that gifting. I am now getting into projects that I am passionate about. I believe that we can organize small farmers in Africa to increase their household incomes three-fold within two years and possibly tenfold within 5 years. I would like to ambitiously believe God that we can impact more than 5 million farmers by 2020. If we do that, then children of farmers such as these in these photographs are able to be afforded critical services by their parents such as a good education, health care, food security, clean water, etc. We may not be able to eradicate poverty, since poverty is relative, but I am certain that we can alleviate it. Small steps such as buying premium prints from select images can help us in this cause. Please buy our African photos/ Ugandan photos/ East Africa photos and licenses or ask us on how you can get involved in efforts that will meaningfully change lives of poor families in very economically sustainable ways – not charity! Enjoy the photos.
